Since its launch in October 2023, the Macedonian School at the Macedonian Orthodox Church in Columbus, Ohio, has been thriving. Our community has warmly embraced this initiative, and it’s been heartening to see our youngest members connect with their heritage in such a meaningful way.

A Joyful Learning Experience

With over 50 children enrolled, the school has become a vibrant hub of activity and learning. Each week, our students eagerly attend classes to immerse themselves in the Macedonian language and culture. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to cater to different age groups, ensuring that learning is both fun and effective.

Engaging Activities for Younger Students

For our younger students, learning comes alive through music, crafts, and games. These activities are not only enjoyable but also serve as powerful tools for language acquisition. The sound of children singing Macedonian songs and the sight of their creative crafts fill our halls with joy and pride.

Developing Skills for Older Students

Our older students have been diligently working on their writing and vocabulary skills. Through structured lessons and interactive activities, they are making significant strides in mastering the Macedonian alphabet and expanding their vocabulary. It’s inspiring to witness their progress and enthusiasm.

Building Bonds and Community

Beyond academics, the Macedonian School has played a crucial role in strengthening the ties within our church community. The children are developing lasting friendships, and their connection to the church and each other is deepening. This program is more than just a language school; it’s a place where our cultural roots are nurtured and celebrated.

Looking Ahead

As we approach the end of our current session in April, we reflect on the tremendous success and positive impact of the Macedonian School. The enthusiasm and dedication of our students, parents, and teachers have been truly remarkable.

We are excited to announce that the program will continue in the fall, and we look forward to welcoming returning and new students. Together, we will continue to celebrate our heritage and pass on the rich traditions of the Macedonian culture to the next generation.
