Makedonski Tanec: Celebrating Macedonian Heritage Though Dance

The Dormition of the Virgin Mary Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral is thrilled to share the exciting journey of our Makedonski Tanec ensemble over the past few months! Our vibrant youth group has been busy showcasing Macedonian culture and dance, and we are eager to bring even more joy and tradition to the community in the coming year.

Youth Ensemble Shines in New Albany Schools

Our talented youth ensemble recently delighted audiences during a cultural event at New Albany schools. Their performances were a beautiful display of Macedonian heritage, captivating everyone in attendance with their skill and enthusiasm. This event was just the beginning, as we have an exciting lineup of performances scheduled throughout the year.

Upcoming Performances: Tomato Festival and Macedonian Festival

Get ready to see Makedonski Tanec at some of the most anticipated events in the community! We are proud to announce that our youth ensemble will be performing at the Tomato Festival, bringing a taste of Macedonian culture to this beloved local event. Additionally, our esteemed Macedonian Festival will feature our ensemble’s vibrant dances, celebrating our rich traditions and fostering a sense of community.

A Revamped Costume Room and New Costumes from Macedonia

A huge thank you goes out to our dedicated instructors for their hard work in revamping our costume room. We are excitedly preparing for the arrival of beautiful new costumes from Macedonia, which will enhance our performances and help us stay true to our cultural roots. These new costumes will add an extra layer of authenticity and beauty to our dances, making each performance a visual feast.

Introducing Our Adult Ensemble

We are thrilled to announce the addition of an adult ensemble to our Makedonski Tanec family! Join us on Wednesday nights for open practice sessions from 7:30-8:00 pm, where everyone is encouraged to participate and learn basic Macedonian dances perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re a beginner or have some dance experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in Macedonian culture and make new friends.

From 8:00-9:00 pm, our performance group meets for those interested in learning a set and performing at events similar to our youth group. We’ve already seen great interest in these groups and would love to see even more people join us. It’s a wonderful way to stay active, connect with the community, and celebrate our heritage.
